Elísa Viðarsdóttir, food and nutrition expert

Posted by Feel Iceland on

Elísa Viðarsdóttir is a food and nutritionist by training and works as the development and education manager at Feel Iceland. Elísa is also a national soccer player and captain of the Icelandic champions Valur in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

She has been taking Feel Iceland's collagen for the past two years and wholeheartedly recommends it as a supplement alongside a healthy and nutritious diet.
"Feel Iceland Collagen is a good dietary supplement and the preventive value of collagen is high. It seems to be ingrained in our culture to first hit a wall before considering the nutrition we put into our bodies. The damage needs to be done before we start paying more attention to our bodies. That's why I strongly recommend collagen to ensure the structure, maintenance and recovery of joints, muscles and skin, and to prevent pain," says Elísa.

Elísa herself takes the collagen as a preventative measure.
"Studies show the benefits of collagen for the body's joints, and since I have struggled with knee problems, I want to focus especially on that, as well as the ankle and hip joints, which are put to a lot of use in football. It is important to keep these in order, and no less important, good bone health, but we have evidence that collagen has a positive effect on bone density, as well as strengthening hair, nails and skin." Elísa also says that she feels an increased sense of well-being in her body after she started taking Feel Iceland collagen.
"I am generally very fit and healthy, and that includes a nutritious and wholesome diet, but also taking collagen every day. I put the collagen in my morning coffee every day and at the same time take the dietary supplement Joint Rewind from Feel Iceland, which is a specially designed product for the joints. My knees feel very good and I have no pain in my joints. I would have really liked to have known about this product when I tore my cruciate ligaments and I am convinced that the collagen would have done me good in that recovery, just as we have seen that collagen can help with the healing of a torn hamstring."

A 100 gram can of Feel Iceland collagen contains 9.4 grams of protein.
"It gives us a lot of protein in one serving and is a great use of it," says Elísa. In the national team, players are occasionally taken for drug tests and then it is important that the product contains only the ingredients in the ingredient list, but I think it is a great advantage that Feel Iceland collagen is a pure, Icelandic natural product, made from Icelandic cod roe," Elísa explains.

Studies that support the effectiveness of collagen for joints:

Collagen can help reduce joint pain, support joint health, and reduce the risk of joint degeneration.

Joint pain is reduced and joint mobility is improved

May help reduce joint pain related to exercise

Collagen may help improve ankle instability
